Biodiesel: an ally in the sustainable future
Climate change, once considered a distant threat, is now an immediate concern, with 9 of the 10 hottest years recorded in the last decade. Biodiesel, introduced into Brazil's fuel matrix in 2005, has helped to combat this situation, avoiding the use of 69 million m³ of diesel and the emission of around 155 million tons of CO2 in 20 years.
In addition to contributing to the reduction of global warming, the exchange of fossil diesel for biodiesel significantly improves air quality, which, according to research carried out in 2021 by EPE, prevented 277 deaths per year in Greater São Paulo, a number that probably increased with the growth of the blend of biodiesel into fossil diesel.
The role of biodiesel in creating a sustainable future will be highlighted at this year's BiodieselBR Conference, which will take place on October 14th and 15th at the Grand Hyatt hotel in São Paulo.
